Description
We believe that this is a lamp “neck,” a decorative piece used to break up runs of straight pipe that form the base of floor lamps and other types of illumination. The Grecian Trio is a cast metal with a mellow, gold-tone surface. Like many old lights, it’s the attention to detail in fashioning this piece that makes it so fabulous. Each woman depicted is unique: each dress is different, each necklace is its own, and even the hairstyles are individualized. There is a distinct drape to each dress, diverse hair ornaments, and then the sweet clasp of their hands. The piece is about 11 inches tall and about 4 inches wide; its size makes us wonder if it could have been the base of a lamp attached to the newel post on a staircase. The top hole can accommodate 1 and 1/8 inch IPS pipe, while the bottom hole is much wider. (See picture.) This lamp part is in very good shape with only a few minor surface imperfections here and there. An exceptional piece, just waiting to provide wisdom and grace in a new home!
